Eurozone industrial production fell in December
The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) announced seasonally adjusted industrial production data for December 2022 for the European Union (EU) and the Euro Zone.
Consequently, industrial production in the 19-member euro zone fell 1.1 percent in December compared to November and 1.7 percent compared to December 2021.
Industrial production in the EU decreased by 0.4 percent in December both compared to the previous month and the same period last year.
On the other hand, in 2022, average industrial production increased by 0.9 percent in the Eurozone and 1.9 percent in the EU compared to the previous year.
In December, the highest monthly increase in industrial production among the EU countries was determined in Denmark with 13.5 percent, Portugal with 4.1 percent and Hungary with 3.8 percent. The largest decreases were observed in Ireland with 8.5%, Luxembourg with 5.2% and Lithuania with 4%.
On an annual basis, industrial production increased the most in Denmark with 21.1 percent, in Malta with 17.1 percent, in Hungary and Poland with 5.8 percent, while in Slovakia 13.1 percent and 11 percent in Estonia, 5.5 percent and 8.4 percent in Luxembourg. (AA)
