The Taliban handed over earthquake money to the Turkish ambassador in a bag

Afghanistan was one of the countries that sent aid to Turkey due to the earthquake.

Matiul Hak Halis, president of the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) affiliated with the Taliban administration, handed over 4.5 million Afghans ($50,000) the day before to the Turkish embassy in the capital Kabul.

Afghan news agency Khaama Press drew attention to the photo shared by ARCS, stating that Afghan Red Crescent officials delivered the aid they collected to Cihad Erginay, Turkey’s ambassador to Afghanistan, in a plastic bag.

Afghan Red Crescent Chairman Halis conveyed his condolences to the Turkish people. Ambassador Erginay also thanked the help and promised to transfer the aid to the families affected by the earthquake.

The Afghan Foreign Ministry announced last week that it would donate $160,000 in cash to Turkey and Syria to support families affected by the earthquake.

The Taliban Islamist organization returned to power after a 20-year hiatus in July 2021, with the withdrawal of US forces.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, “Turkey has nothing wrong with believing in the Taliban”, after the Taliban returned to power. “I think we can get along better,” he said.
