IMF will begin negotiations with Ukraine for aid of 16,000 million dollars

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission will begin negotiations with the Ukrainian authorities to obtain new financing starting today. The IMF is considering a $16 billion aid package to help Ukraine, which is at war with Russia, meet its needs.

The kyiv government is seeking a full loan package from the IMF after an agreement was reached in December for a four-month interim monitoring program that, if completed successfully, will pave the way for aid.
In the news, which states that an agreement on the plan can be reached by the end of March, the first payment can be made in April.

PREPARING FOR NEW EU SANCTIONS

On the other hand, the European Union is preparing to propose a new sanctions package to further restrict Russia. The sanctions will include sweeping export bans on a variety of products, technologies and components used in Russian weapons, according to a Bloomberg report.

In addition, the defense ministers of NATO member states will meet tomorrow in Brussels to discuss military support for Ukraine. Conflicts are expected to escalate again soon in the country.
