Farm credit union market queues have now been added to the queues in front of the Institution of Meat and Dairy (ESK). Citizens wanting to buy cheap meat from the Elazig Agricultural Credit Cooperative, which offers reduced prices on some products, formed long queues.

Minced meat 89, CUED 99 LIRA

Minced meat, whose weight is 180-190 lire in butcher shops, is for sale in the Agricultural Credit Cooperative Market. The citizens, who heard that ground meat would be offered for sale for 89 lira and cubes of meat for 99 lira, flocked to the market at dawn. Citizens who want to buy meat products cheaper than in the market, formed long queues in front of the Agricultural Credit Cooperative Market in Kultur Mahallesi.

CHP Elazig MP Gürsel Erol stated that the scene was sad, saying:

“In our Elazig, the most important production center in eastern Anatolia, which has supplied 70 percent of Turkey’s meat needs and exports to the entire Middle East until the last two decades, this vision is deplorable. This photo is an indication that the AKP’s policies in all fields have been ruined. The AKP mentality is the biggest obstacle to our citizens’ access to cheap and reliable basic food products. There is no war, no disaster, no embargo in the country, but there are long lines in the cheap markets. These queues are absent queues. If you ask the AKP politicians, the country is growing and prosperity is increasing. If there is one thing that is growing, it is the well-being of a handful of AKP’s happy minorities, while millions of our citizens try to cling to life in hunger and poverty. We have said before that this winter will be difficult, and this photo is an indication of that.”
