The Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant will build a new residential area for its employees

Akkuyu Nuclear AŞ signed a contract with the Turkish company Özaltın İnşaat as part of its plan to build a residential area for the operating staff of the Nuclear Power Plant (NGS).

According to the Akkuyu Nuclear AŞ statement, in addition to apartments of different sizes, there will be a kindergarten, school, shops, restaurant, cafeterias, medical center, pharmacy, sports facilities, social and cultural complexes, and a hotel.

The residential area, which will house more than 6 thousand people, will also be equipped with a common rest area for all residents.

The project, which will be implemented in three phases, is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025.

Recalling that work on the power plant is continuing rapidly and that the dome of the first unit was recently assembled, Akkuyu Nuclear AŞ General Manager Anastasia Zoteeva said, “We have started the process of supplying water to the open reactor. The construction of a nuclear power plant is a multi-stage operation. We are currently moving from the construction phase to technological studies.” she used the phrases.

Noting that the construction of the residential area will be carried out in three phases, Özaltın İnşaat General Manager Muzaffer Özdemir said, “After completing the first phase, we plan to put more than 800 apartments, a school for 1000 people into operation. and a kindergarten for 450 people. When the construction of the three phases is complete, there will be more than 2,700 homes in total. The settlement city area will be more than 700 thousand square meters. In this context, the necessary zoning works have been completed and all permits for the use of the land for housing construction have been obtained.

THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE POWER PLANT CONTINUES

Sergey Butckikh, 1st Deputy General Manager of Akkuyu Nuclear AŞ and Construction Director of NGS, stated that they will bring the large-sized equipment to the design position in the second unit, saying, “We will start the welding process of the main circulation pipeline . In the third unit, the dry protection equipment is being prepared for its installation.
