Announced Inflation Figures
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the inflation figures for January. Consequently, in January 2023, the consumer price index increased 6.65 percent from the previous month and increased 57.68 percent from the same month of the previous year. Compared to the twelve-month averages, the CPI rose 72.45 percent.
Inflation of 6.65 percent in January was registered as the highest monthly inflation in the last 9 months.
In December, TURKSTAT announced monthly inflation of 1.18 percent and annual inflation of 64.27 percent.
Details of the data could not be seen because the TurkStat website gave an error during and after the inflation announcement.
ENAG SAID ‘121 PERCENT INFLATION’
The Inflation Research Group (ENAG), made up of independent academics, announced monthly inflation of 9.26 percent and annual inflation of 121.62 percent for January.
The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), for its part, announced monthly inflation of 5.94 percent and annual inflation of 79.68 percent for January.
