EYT members salary revealed

The bill, which provides age-free retirement rights for those who are old enough to retire (EYT), has caused great disappointment due to extremely low pensions. According to the impact analysis presented by the Social Security Institution (SGK) to the Parliament’s Planning and Budget Commission, 2 million 246 thousand people will retire this year when the law is approved. However, practically all of the new retirees, except for civil servants, will have to live with a salary below the minimum wage.

When EYT becomes law, those who retire from Bağ-Kur will receive an average of 5,867 lira, and those who retire from SSK will receive an average of 7,113 lira per month. It has been calculated that only 124,037 of the 496,151 civil servants who will have the right to retire by law will retire and these people will receive an average pension of 12,415 liras. Most retired civil servants will try to continue their retired life on half their salary while working.

COST confused

Treasury and Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati announced the figure of 255 billion lira for the cost of EYT. However, it was surprising that AKP Group Vice President Muhammet Emin Akbaşoğlu, who submitted the EYT bill to the Parliamentary Committee on Plan and Budget, said the cost would be 194.4 billion.

According to the regulation, 2 million 246 thousand people will have the right to retire this year when the law is promulgated. Of these, 1,662,000 are registered with SSK, 89,000 with Bağ-Kur, and 496,000 with the Pension Fund. In the coming years it is estimated that 2.5 million more people will retire and the total will reach 4 million 787 thousand. It is believed that almost all workers and those in Bağ-Kur, who are entitled to retirement, will continue to work, while only 25 percent of civil servants will retire.

‘We became the ones who stuck to the premium in retirement’

The meetings of the Parliamentary Commission of Plan and Budget of the EYT began with the protest of the opposition deputies in foreign currency. While the opposition claimed that the EYT regulation would lead to new complaints, EYT Federation President Gönül Boran Özüpak criticized the regulation in the commission, saying: “We were EYT members and now we are the ones who get paid in retirement (EPT). Here, some give praise and thank each other. However, removing the age limit does not solve our problem. Retirees are sentenced to a monthly pension of 5,500 lire, ”he said.

They will wait 17 years with 1 day

Employees who are insured on and before September 8, 1999 will be eligible for the EYT. Those hired after this date will be subject to the age requirement. Defending the regulation in the commission, AKP Group Vice President Mustafa Elitaş, when asked, said that an insured person who was employed on or before September 8, 1999 would retire at the age of 43, and those who were hired on September 9, 1999 would wait until age 60 to retire.
