Unemployment in the eurozone remained stable in December

The unemployment rate in the euro area was measured at 6.6 percent in December.

The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) has published unemployment data for December 2022 for the European Union (EU) and the Eurozone.

Consequently, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the EU, which was 6.1 per cent in November, remained at the same level in December.

The unemployment rate in the Euro Zone, which was 6.6 percent in November, remained stable in December.

HIGHEST IN SPAIN

The unemployment rate fell to 7 percent in the euro area and 6.4 in the EU in December of the previous year.

By country, the unemployment rate was 13.1% in Spain, 11.6% in Greece, 7.8% in Italy, 7.1% in France and 2.9% in Germany.

THE NUMBER OF UNEMPLOYMENT IN THE EU IS 13 MILLION 148 THOUSAND PEOPLE

While the number of unemployed in the EU was 13 million 148 thousand in December, 11 million 48 thousand of them occurred in the Euro Zone.

In December, the number of unemployed young people under 25 years of age was determined at 2 million 862 thousand in the EU and 2 million 311 thousand in the Euro Zone.

The youth unemployment rate was 15 percent in the EU and 14.8 percent in the Eurozone. (A)
