Committee for Monitoring and Evaluation of Food and Agricultural Products Markets convened

According to the written statement made by the Ministry, the meeting of the Committee for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Markets of Agricultural Products and Food organized by the Minister of Treasury and Finance Nureddin Nebati was attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Vahit Kirişci, the Head of Strategy and Presidential Budget İbrahim Şenel and representatives of the relevant institutions.

The meeting evaluated the progress made in previous decisions made by the committee and the work done. The recent evolution of national and international supply and prices of food and agricultural products was analyzed, with a focus on the security of food supply, especially in the raw milk and red meat market.

In the statement, it was indicated that the downward trend in the prices of energy and agricultural raw materials worldwide is expected to have a positive impact on other price behaviors, especially in agricultural products and food, given that:

“On the other hand, it has been pointed out that there has been an unfair and speculative price increase in some agricultural and food products, regardless of the evolution of costs, and it has been decided to continue with the relevant institutions in order to avoid such increases.

In addition, steps will be taken for Farm Credit Cooperatives to assume a more active role in the feed and fertilizer sector. In the coming period, in order to ensure the sustainability of food supply security, we will continue to establish close cooperation with the relevant institutions, taking price stability into account.” AA-DHA
