Rent rebellion… Upon hearing the prices, he leaves Istanbul

Recently, there has been a huge increase in the rental prices of apartments in Istanbul. After the increases up to 400 percent, the people rose up.

“PAY OR OUT”

CHP Istanbul MP Gürsel Tekin met citizens in Üsküdar, one of the high-rent districts. Citizens who lived in rent complained about the high rents.

A citizen living in Balat stated that the rents are high, saying, “The rent for my house has increased from 1,000 lira to 4,000 lira. The landlord says this, either you give it or you take it away,” he said. Tekin, on the other hand, said that 25 percent of the tenants in Istanbul cannot pay their rent regularly.

“IF I LEAVE I WILL NEVER FIND IT AGAIN”

One citizen who complained about the high rents said, “If the rents are too expensive, I won’t be able to find them again.”

“WE HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR HOUSE FOR 4 MONTHS, WE CANNOT FIND IT”

A citizen who worked at a kiosk in Üsküdar said: “I was paying 4 thousand lira for rent. They kicked us out of the house. The children are on one side, we are on the other. We have been looking for a house for 4 months, we cannot find a house. The rents are 10 thousand liras, 20 thousand liras. We are in a difficult situation, ”he said.

“A LOT OF PEOPLE LEFT ISTANBUL BECAUSE THEY CANNOT PAY THEIR RENT”

Saying that people couldn’t find a house and left Istanbul, CHP’s Gürsel Tekin used the following expressions;

*If you’re going to have problems, you’ll have problems with the construction crew and the concrete lobby that stores construction stock. Where? In Üsküdar, Kadıköy, all over Turkey.

* You are building such large luxury residences, only their installments are 14 thousand lira. What would TOKİ do, what would Emlak Konut do? He was going to build houses for the citizens, he was going to make a place of refuge. Unfortunately they have sentenced people to residences and luxury residences.

*Although there are between 750 thousand and 1 million empty buildings in Istanbul, unfortunately, our people have not been able to find a rental house. Especially half of the rented buildings on the coast of Zeytinburnu and Bakırköy are empty.

*Because they are very expensive. Our citizens have unfortunately been condemned to expensive rents. Many people had to leave Istanbul because they couldn’t pay their rent.

*The main reason why people cannot find a house and are condemned to expensive houses is due to the large stock of buildings in the hands of the concrete lobby and zoning gang in Turkey. We need to tax them immediately so we can strike a balance.
