20 more organizations will be privatized in 2 years
Treasure and the Privatization Administration, attached to the Ministry of Finance, published the 2021 activity report and the 2022 Performance Program. In the reports, it was revealed that 7 million 812 thousand dollars of privatization were made between the years 1986-2003 until the rule of the AKP, and that privatization has accelerated since 2004. In the next two years, 10 companies are expected to be privatized, while the total transaction cost of these 20 companies is expected to be TL 14 billion.
EXCEED $63 BILLION
According to reports, from 2004 to the end of 2021, 62 thousand 275 million dollars of privatizations were carried out. The amount mentioned in the report is estimated to have exceeded 63 billion USD in 2022, with 7 privatization transactions with a transaction value of TL 14 billion. According to the table in which income from privatizations and fees from previous years are distributed by year, 9 million 580 thousand dollars in 2006, 8 million 818 thousand dollars in 2007, 5 million 834 thousand dollars in 2008, 6 million 709 thousand dollars in 2013, 6 million 16 thousand dollars, 4 million 366 thousand dollars of income was obtained in 2015. In 2019, 885 million dollars were privatized, 677 million dollars in 2020 and 591 million dollars in 2021. In 2022, they took carried out 7 privatization transactions with a total transaction cost of approximately TL 14 billion. In the report, it was stated that the privatization will be TL 10 billion in 2023 and TL 4 billion in 2024.
Türk Telekom was privatized by tender in 2005. Ojer Telecomunicaciones Inc. bought 55 percent of Türk Telekom for $6.55 billion. This transaction was recorded as the largest privatization in the history of Turkey.
The number of tenders will reach 410
According to the report of the Privatization Administration, the number of privatization tenders to be carried out according to the strategy determined by the President’s decision in 2020 is 80. This number increased to 195 in 2021 and 200 in 2022. it expects 205 tenders to be held each in 2023 and 2024. For the past two years, the government has focused on land sales as part of privatizations. According to information provided by CHP Bursa deputy Erkan Aydın, he said that during the 20 years of AKP rule, a total of 25 million square meters of land, land, shops and apartments were sold to foreigners. Aydın noted that 280,000 properties were also sold to foreigners.
