The citizen who could not buy meat became offal.
Meat prices continue to increase due to the meat import policy and our domestic animal stock is declining day by day.
The sharp increase in meat prices made citizens, who had difficulties to live, resort to cheaper offal.
The Ankara butcher, who said that citizens living in financial difficulties had minced meat from the cripple, claimed that meat prices will increase in the upcoming Ramadan, saying: “The value of 200 TL of minced meat will increase to 260- 270TL. Citizens will not be able to see meat in Ramadan,” he said.
Ground beef 200 TL, STEAK 500 TL
CHP Manisa MP Bekir Başevirgen got the butchers’ opinion on the latest situation in meat prices at the meat wholesaler he visited in Ankara Yenimahalle.
The butcher, who provided information to the CHP deputy on the latest meat price situation, said that meat is now a luxury for citizens whose purchasing power is decreasing day by day.
The butcher, who gave information about current meat prices, gave the following statements: “Ground meat is currently 200 TL. The bird’s head is sold for 230 TL and the back for 500 TL. A citizen with minimum wage no longer has the opportunity to buy meat. Citizens no longer buy meat not even by the gram”.
‘THEY TAKE A HEART AND MAKE MINDS’
Expressing that the citizens, who could not buy meat due to the increase in prices, are now resorting to offal, the butcher continued his words as follows:
“Citizen has started taking on the unpopular parts of the animal in the past. So they became spoils. Kidney, liver, heart, tripe are taken. They are cheaper than meat. Especially the heart sells a lot. Citizens buy offal and grind it into minced meat. Our citizens eat ground beef wholeheartedly.
For this reason, those who remove the remains under the stairs increased. Because they sell minced meat for 130-140 TL. We know what’s in that ground beef, but our citizens don’t. For this reason, the citizen is also playing with his own health”.
NEW HIGH EXPECTATION IN RAMADAN
Saying that Turkey is one of the few countries in the world in terms of animal husbandry, but has now started to import animals, the butcher gave the signal that there will be an increase in meat in the upcoming Ramadan and gave the following statements:
“Minced meat, which is currently 200 TL, will increase to 206-270 TL next Ramadan. This means that citizens will not be able to see the face of meat in Ramadan either.”
‘NO IMPORTS, WE NEED ENERGY CHANGE’
Stating that our country’s red meat production is around 2 million tons and 75% of this is beef, CHP Manisa Deputy Başevirgen said in a statement:
“Our country needs approximately 1.5 million tons of beef a year. To meet this production, around 5.5 million head of cattle must be slaughtered.
When we look at the data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, it is understood that we do not have any problem in terms of the number of animals.
If these numbers are correct, we can easily be self-sufficient without importing meat and animals. So why is the importation of meat and animals allowed?
The reason for the increase in meat prices is due to increased costs rather than decreased production. Our country does not need to import animals, but to reduce production costs or increase the purchasing power of citizens. In other words, our country needs a change of government, not imports.
The government, which claims to be domestic and national, has once again shown its true face by paving the way for the importation of animals.
