S&P: Global sukuk issuance will continue to fall this year
In the statement made by S&P, it was reported that the global issuance of sukuk, which was $170.4 billion in 2021 and $155.8 billion in 2022, is expected to decline to $150 billion this year.
Especially in countries like Saudi Arabia, where governments have transformation plans and well-capitalized banking systems will not be able to finance all projects, companies are likely to contribute to issuance volumes.
There is continued momentum among issuers in key Islamic financial countries due to increased awareness of the energy transition and environmental, social and governance issues.
It was claimed that the sukuk market lags behind the traditional market for automation and issuance of digital tools that can accelerate growth and make the process more attractive. (AA)
