HOW MUCH IS THE PASSPORT FEE?

While the passport fee for up to 6 months was 309.40, as of the new year it became 689.75. The difference will be 380.35.

While the passport fee for 1 year was 452.30, it became 1,008.31 as of the new year. The difference will be 556.01.

While the passport fee for 2 years was 738.40, as of the new year it became 1,646.12. The difference will be 907.72.

While the passport fee for 3 years was 1,049.00, as of the new year it became 2,338.54. The difference will be 1,289.54.

While the passport fee for 4-10 years was 1,478.30, as of the new year it became 3,295.57. The difference will be 1,817.27.

The President did not use his authority to reduce taxes or penalties to half the revaluation rate or increase it up to 50 percent more.

WHAT IS THE REVALUATION RATE?

The Revaluation Rate is calculated in accordance with article 298 of the Tax Procedure Law.

Revaluation Rate expresses the average price increase rate in the General Producer Price Index (IPP) for October of the year to be revalued with respect to the same period of the previous year.

The revaluation rate is determined at the beginning of November of each year, when TurkStat announces the inflation rates for October. The Ministry of Treasury and Finance discloses this rate to the public in the Official Gazette with a Communiqué.

LAST YEAR IT WAS 36.2 PERCENT

The revaluation rate for 2022 was announced at 36.2 percent.

According to the Tax Procedure Law, President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan has the authority to reduce the revaluation rate by 50 percent and increase it by 50 percent in taxes and fees.

In the Motor Vehicle Tax, while the President’s authority to increase is 50 percent, his authority to reduce is 80 percent. In the penalties, the announced revaluation rates cannot be modified.

NO DIFFERENCE IN FEES

Those who paid the passport fee in December of last year and made an appointment in January for the intensity will not pay the salary difference for the revaluation rate in 2023.

While an average of 2,100,000 passport transactions were made in Turkey in previous years, in 2022, 4,588,440 applications were received. In this context, the General Directorate for Population and Citizenship Affairs of the Ministry of Interior worked overtime on weekdays and Saturdays to meet the passport demands of the Republic of Turkey.

Due to the crisis in the production of chipped passports worldwide, as of August 25, 2022, the production of domestic and national passports, called “third generation”, began in order to overcome the process more easily.

In this context, to date, 710,000 national and national passports have been delivered.

APPOINTMENT TIME EXTENDED TO 15 DAYS

Technical and administrative measures were also taken to prevent citizen grievances. Consequently, the appointment time has been increased to 15 days. Appointments were made available to those who were unable to keep their appointments.

Those who paid the passport fee at the end of last year had to make an appointment for this month due to the intensity. However, those who went to the population offices to apply were asked to pay a difference in wages due to the increase in the amount of fees this year.

To avoid grievances, with the instruction of the Minister of the Interior Süleyman Soylu, in December, those who paid the passport fee with the 2022 fee and made an appointment this month due to density will not be charged a fee difference due to the revaluation rate. in 2023.
