EMRA imposes fines: ‘It will be reflected on consumers’ bills’

In the statement made by EMRA, information was given on the mechanism of the Maximum Settlement Price and it was expressed as follows;

“As is known, the Maximum Settlement Price (AUF) mechanism has been put into practice by our institution so that extraordinary cost increases in international markets, especially in recent months, do not disturb the security of supply in our country. and protect our consumers from these cost increases.

This mechanism, which will be implemented temporarily, is also being used by many European countries. With the contribution of the AUF mechanism, which was implemented as of April 1, 2022 and extended for another 6 months in October, no plant was closed and our security of energy supply was not interrupted.

Our institution meticulously monitors price movements in this process, and the necessary interventions are promptly carried out within the scope of the AUF. Bilateral agreements, which are fixed price and are not covered by the AUF because they protect consumers, were also submitted to EPİAŞ and secured.

COST REDUCTION WILL BE REFLECTED ON INVOICES

The following statements were included in the statement:

“At the meeting held on Thursday, our board; Within the framework of these agreements, it has decided to open an administrative investigation against 40 companies and reimburse 10 billion 208 million 222 thousand 680 TL due to false notifications made to EPİAŞ inadvertently or intentionally. This amount, which is over TL 11 billion including interest, will be reflected directly on our consumers’ bills as a cost reduction due to the nature of the AUF mechanism.

The payment instruction to the related companies was sent via “registered email” (KEP) on Friday. Administrative investigations on the companies in question will also be carefully carried out by our institution. In this process, misleading public statements must be avoided.

It is our priority that all companies operating in our sector show the necessary sensitivity towards AUF, which is of great importance for Turkey’s energy security and eases the cost burden on our consumers. It should be noted that our institution will not allow other practices under any circumstances.
