An investigation by the Competition Authority to food giants

An investigation by the Competition Authority of food companies

The Competition Authority announced that an investigation has been launched against Danone Tikveşli, Eti, Horizon and Nestlé.

The preliminary investigation carried out to determine whether these companies violate competition through ‘competitive sensitive information sharing’ was decided by the Competition Board.

The Competition Board, which considered the findings obtained in the preliminary investigation sufficient, decided to open an investigation against Danone Tikveşli, Eti, Horizon and Nestlé Turkey as a result of the negotiations it held at its meeting on December 15, 2022.

In the Competition Authority Glossary, the concept of ‘information sharing’ is defined as “the exchange of sensitive business information by two or more companies competing with each other that may affect competitive decisions”.

ANOTHER QUESTION TO NESTLE

On the other hand, it was announced that another investigation was opened against Nestlé Turkey. It was decided to investigate allegations that the company’s dealers set the resale price and impose regional and customer restrictions on their dealers.

The Competition Board considered the results of the preliminary investigation to be serious and sufficient and decided to open an investigation against Nestlé Turkey.
