14.7 million tourists came to Istanbul in 11 months

The number of foreign tourists arriving in Istanbul in November increased by 35 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 1,341,948 people.

According to data from the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, 14 million 714 thousand 474 foreign tourists visited the city in the first 11 months of this year.

Istanbul, which welcomed 1,341,948 foreigners in November 2022, received 997,620 people in the same month last year.

Thus, it was calculated that the number of foreign visitors who arrived in the city in November increased by 35 percent and 344 thousand 348 people compared to the same month of the previous year.

THE MOST RUSSIANS COME

The Russians ranked first with 159,335 foreign visitors in Istanbul in November.

Russia with 83 thousand 146 tourists, Germany with 79 thousand 645 tourists, Saudi Arabia with 61 thousand 592 tourists, Israel with 56 thousand 188 tourists, USA with 53 thousand 692 tourists, England with 45 thousand 311 tourists, France with 42 thousand 81 tourists, and 30 thousand 399 tourists respectively. Uzbekistan was followed by Italy with 27,299 tourists.

Russians accounted for 11.87 percent of those who visited Istanbul in November, Germans for 6.20 percent and Iranians for 5.94 percent. 4.59% of incoming tourists were Saudi Arabian, 4.19% Israeli, 4% American and 3.38% British.

1 PEOPLE COMES FROM PAPUA NEW GUINEA

Although tourists from 194 countries arrived in Istanbul in November, only one person from Papua New Guinea, Nauru and Bhutan, and three from North Korea, Nauru and Macao visited the city.

1 million 14 thousand 984 people arrived in Istanbul in November 2018, and 1 million 88 thousand 372 people arrived in Istanbul in the same period of 2019. In November 2020, it was determined that 408.40 tourists arrived in the city.

261 PERCENT INCREASE IN COMING BY SEA

In November, 1,323,271 people arrived in the city by air and 18,677 people by sea.

Compared to the previous year, those arriving in Istanbul by air increased 33 percent, while those arriving by sea increased 261 percent.

1,410 people from Atatürk Airport, 363,427 people from Sabiha Gökçen Airport and 958,434 people from Istanbul Airport entered Istanbul this month.

1832 from the port of Tuzla, 13,239 from the port of Karaköy, 1564 from the port of Sarayburnu, 1074 from the port of Zeytinburnu, 187 from the port of Ambarlı, 682 from the port of Haydarpaşa, 83 from the port of Pendik, from the port of Marmara 16 arrived foreign visitors.

While 71.42 percent of the city’s visitors used Istanbul Airport, 27.08 percent preferred Sabiha Gökçen International Airport. (AA)
