Home appliance sales increased 19 percent in November compared to last year

According to November data announced by the Turkish Home Appliance Manufacturers Association (TÜRKESD), domestic sales on the basis of six main products increased by 19 percent compared to the previous year and reached 750,726 units.

In the same period, exports rose 2 percent to 2.3 million units.

In the January-November period, domestic sales decreased 2 percent to 7.76 million units, while exports held steady at 23.8 million units.

‘CONTINUES DECREASE IN DEMAND DUE TO INFLATION’

In his assessment, TÜRKESD President Can Dinçer stated that the recovery trend in domestic sales continued more and more after the decline in the first half of the year, saying, “While the war continues in Europe, where we export more 60 percent, demand decline due to high inflation, world energy prices and supply problems, the problems continue,” he said.

Dinçer said: “In line with rising energy costs and sensitivity to combat climate change, interest in energy efficient products is increasing worldwide. An increase in demand in this regard is also expected in our country. We consider it fundamental that the current fiscal policies are reviewed with a holistic approach in the framework of the green transformation objectives”.

Home appliance production, on the other hand, declined 3 percent annually to 3 million units in November and 30.5 million units in January-November down 3 percent. (Reuters)
