Turkey’s natural gas imports decreased 30.4 percent in October compared to last year
Turkey’s natural gas imports decreased 30.4 percent in October compared to the same month a year earlier and stood at about 3,238 million cubic meters.
According to the “Natural Gas Market Sector Report” of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority of October, imports were made through gas pipelines of approximately 2,381 million cubic meters and 857 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities. ).
In this period, natural gas imports through pipelines decreased by approximately 21.2 percent and LNG imports decreased by 47.5 percent. Total imports of natural gas decreased 30.4 percent in October compared to the same month of the previous year and were located at approximately 3 thousand 238 million cubic meters.
THE LARGEST IMPORT FROM RUSSIA
In October, the largest natural gas imports were from Russia with 948 million cubic meters, followed by Azerbaijan with 760 million cubic meters and Iran with 671 million cubic meters.
Russia’s natural gas imports decreased 49.1 percent, Azerbaijan’s imports decreased 0.1 percent and Iran’s imports increased 69.9 percent.
DECREASES GAS CONSUMPTION IN HOUSES
In said period, the consumption of natural gas in the country decreased 16.3 percent and reached 423 million cubic meters. The natural gas consumption of organized industrial zones decreased by 16.8 percent and was registered at 320 million cubic meters.
Natural gas consumption at power plants decreased 51.2 percent to 878 million cubic meters. The decrease in gas consumption by the power plants was also decisive in the decrease in total consumption and imports.
For its part, the consumption of natural gas in residences decreased by 16.3% in October compared to the same month of the previous year and stood at 423 million cubic meters.
INCREASE IN THE STOCK OF NATURAL GAS
The amount of natural gas stocks in Turkey amounted to 3.818 million cubic meters in October with an increase of 39.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
3,673 million cubic meters (96.2%) of the natural gas stock was in underground storage and 145 million cubic meters (3.8%) in LNG terminals.
In this period, the amount of stock in underground storage increased by 48.9 percent, while the amount of stock in LNG terminals decreased by 47.3 percent. (AA)
