Is the minimum wage 9 thousand TL? Entrepreneurs announced…

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected to announce the minimum wage tomorrow, which will be valid in the new year.

Drawing attention to the starvation limit of 7,785 TL since the negotiations began this year, Türk-İş President Ergün Atalay said, “Our official offer is 9,000 TL” after yesterday’s meeting, which led to increased expectations.

The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Bilgin, indicated that they would reach an agreement on Tuesday, December 20, in the statements he made last week, but Atalay said: “If they give, we sign, if not. t, we will not be in business”, the third meeting did not yield any results.

So the new minimum wage, which is expected to be announced tomorrow, can be 9 thousand TL?

According to information obtained by Sozcu.com.tr from various employer organizations, there is talk in the lobby that the new minimum wage will be between 8,000 and 8,500.

There are representatives of employers who say that even if tax relief is provided to the employer, they will not be able to pay 9 thousand TL and in such a case the number of dismissals will increase.

Here are the details…

FOOD INFLATION PATTERN PATTERN

Speaking to Sozcu.com.tr, Vice President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) and Chairman of the Kocaeli Chamber of Industry, Ayhan Zeytinoğlu, said that the new minimum wage of TL 9,000 will not It will cause a lot of problems for companies. working for export, but that the companies that provide employment in Anatolia will have difficulties and that, therefore, he explained that such a figure cannot be sustainable.

However, seen from the side of the workers, the following statement by Zeytinoğlu drew attention, who emphasized that food inflation is above the CPI, and that this negatively affects minimum wage earners:

APPLICATION FOR ‘SUSTAINABLE NUMBERS’

He also drew attention to the difference between the gross minimum wage and the net minimum wage, saying: “There is a big difference. Zeytinoğlu, who demanded that the tax burden be removed from us, continued as follows:

“Neither our workers are going to suffer, nor are we going to lay off workers because the number that is going to be announced is too much for us… Let it be a sustainable figure. That is our hope.”

‘IF TAX EASE IS PROVIDED, WE PAY IN 9,500’

Speaking to Sozcu.com.tr, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of TOBB Turkish Services Assembly and the Chairman of the Turkish Food Industry Association Federation (YESİDEF), Hüseyin Bozdağ, stated that the minimum wage of 9 thousand TL is only possible with the tax relief that will be granted to the employer.

Saying: “If we give 9 thousand TL to the minimum wage earner, we will have to pay 12 thousand TL to the driver, 18 thousand TL per cook, 22 thousand TL to the project manager, 30 thousand TL to the engineer and the target. collar worker, “said Bozdağ. I don’t know if we can create jobs that we can handle,” he said.

Bozdağ said: “The state should remove the minimum wage burden entirely, not proportionally.”

“Payments such as withholding taxes of 50-55 percent of the minimum wage we pay today, payment of premiums from social security institutions. These constitute an additional charge of 5 thousand lira. If you remove this burden from the employer, we will pay 9 thousand TL, 9 thousand 500 TL.”

‘CLEVER MAKERS CANNOT GET LOW’

In his statement to sozcu.com.tr, Turkish Garment Manufacturers Association (TGSD) President Ramazan Kaya noted that 1.5 million of the 7 million minimum wage earners work in the textile and garment industries, and that 40 percent of the cost elements are labor expenses. He stated that a thousand TL is a figure that they cannot afford.

Saying, “9 thousand TL is a very high figure for us,” Kaya said, “We have almost no chance of doing these jobs by paying 9 thousand TL. Maybe other sectors can pay, but our industry is not capable of paying that amount,” she said.

Pointing out that if the new minimum wage is 9 thousand TL, the wheels will slow down, there will be job losses, exports will decrease, and unemployment will increase, Kaya continued as follows:

8 thousand 250 TL EXPECTATION

“My expectation is that it will be 8,000-8,250 TL and there will be an increase of 45 percent.

However, whatever is explained, this increase is putting very serious pressure on us in terms of costs. But there is also official inflation above 80 percent. From the side of the employees, they are also right. The home struggles to survive. There is a 20 percent decrease in spending and demand from our sector.

Our first priority should be to reduce inflation and move to a more stable and sustainable economic policy as soon as possible.”

APPLICATION FOR ‘TAX EXCLUSION’

The president of the Chamber of Industry of the Aegean Region (EBSO), Ender Yorgancılar, demanded that a regulation be made on tax brackets against the worker.

Yorgancılar said: “A new regulation on tax brackets is as important as determining the minimum wage.” Because the salary that the worker receives in the first months of the year begins to melt due to the tax brackets in the following months. A regulation that is made in this regard will ensure that more money is put in the pockets of employees, ”he said.

ERDOĞAN: WE CANNOT TAKE STEPS WITH EVERYTHING EVERYONE SAYS

On the other hand, President Erdoğan noted that the minimum wage could be announced tomorrow in his statement at his party’s group meeting.

The following comments made by Erdoğan regarding the demand for the new minimum wage of TL 9,000 drew attention:

“We are not in the mood to take a step with everything that everyone says. Those who do not have a saddlebag on their backs can speak comfortably. It is a saucepan that carries 85 million people on their backs.”
