Consumer confidence plummeted in December

The seasonally adjusted Consumer Confidence Index, calculated from the results of the Consumer Trend Survey conducted in cooperation with the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, decreased by 1.3 percent in December. compared to the previous month.

The index, which was 76.6 in November, became 75.6 in December.

With the monthly survey of consumer trends, the evaluation of the current situation of consumers in terms of their financial situation and general economy, their expectations for the future and their spending and saving trends is measured.

The consumer confidence index calculated from the survey results can take values ​​in the range of 0-200. A consumer confidence index above 100 indicates an optimistic situation, while an index below 100 indicates a pessimistic consumer confidence.

THE EXPECTATION OF THE ECONOMIC SITUATION HAS DECREASED

As for the sub-indices, the rate of decline in the ‘expectations of the general economic situation in the next 12-month period’ index on a monthly basis in December was 4 percent.

While the ‘household financial situation in the current period’ index decreased 1.5 percent in December, the ‘household financial situation expectation in the next 12 months’ index decreased 0.6 percent.

The ‘Contemplation of spending on durable goods in the next 12 months’ index increased 0.7 percent in December.
