The market cart does not fill less than 500 lira.
While the effects of the economic crisis in the country continue to increase day by day, the effects of rising costs in the established neighborhood markets in Eskişehir are visible.
Citizens who prefer neighborhood markets because they are more affordable than markets have to return home before they can fill their nets and market carts due to rising prices.
The citizen, who sees his needs for vegetables and fruits from the neighborhood markets, complains of not being able to fill the networks due to the increased cost.
Citizens, who claim that they need to spend 500 lira to fill the market cart with vegetables and fruits, can only buy these products in grams.
KILOGRAM PRICES ARE UP TO 30-35 TL
Citizens have to buy in grams in neighborhood markets where vegetables and fruits are not available for less than 10 lira.
The average prices of some vegetables and fruits in neighborhood markets are as follows: cabbage 35 TL, red pepper 30 TL, green pepper 15 TL, tangerine 13 TL, orange 15 TL, quince 12 TL, lemon 12 TL, lettuce 6 TL , spinach 14 TL, chestnut 75 TL, apple 13 TL, banana 18 TL, pomegranate 10 TL, green beans 25 TL, potatoes 10 TL, onions 10 TL.’
THEY CAN GO TO THE MARKET WITH 150-200 TL AND BUY IN GRAMS
Expressing that approximately 400-500 lira must be spent to fill the market bag, the citizens want prices to become cheaper as soon as possible.
Citizens who go to the market with 150-200 lira can only buy one gram or a few vegetables and fruits. While some citizens come to the market with a market bag, some citizens don’t even buy a market bag.
Citizens who shop with bags leave the market after buying 4-5 kinds of products because their wallets are empty.
‘THE RETIRED SALARY IS NOT ENOUGH’
The citizens who buy in the neighborhood markets complain of not being able to buy and the merchants of not being able to sell.
Stating that the market prices are very expensive, Ayşe Polat said: “We cannot meet the needs. I am the only person, with the 100 lire that I reserve for Sunday purchases, I can only meet my needs in grams. Sunday bags are empty because we can’t fill them. We buy vegetables and fruits by the gram. Pensions are not enough. When we say light, natural gas, water, the salary is over. I can’t get along,” she said.
‘LISTEN TO THE VOICE OF THE CITIZEN NOW’
Stating that he is retired and cannot live on the salary he receives, Nevruz Şenler said: “The minimum wage and pensions will increase in the new year. That the authorities listen to our voices, that they do not raise wages or raise products. What they give with a spoon, they return with a ladle. We can’t fill our Sunday bags. I bought a product for 100 lira, there is nothing in between. I am calculating a penny to buy quince per gram. Look, they put us in this situation. I’m retired, I can’t make a living, we’re fed up. Listen to the voice of the citizens now, our situation is very bad”.
‘EVERY DAY WE ARE LOOKING FOR THE OLD’
Stating that the citizen cannot allocate a budget to the market because his other expenses such as house rent, natural gas and electricity are too high, market trader Emre Terzioğlu stated that there is an overall cost, saying: “It is difficult to make purchases in the market less than 500 lira. Citizens are not comfortable. Mandarin is 13 lira, citizen buys it by the gram. As merchants, we have been looking for the past every day. Where diesel is at 22-23 lire, the farmer cannot look at his field and that is reflected in the market. If it continues like this, it will be even worse.”
THE FEAR OF A NEW HIRED AFTER CHRISTMAS
Ramazan Çakal, a market trader, stated that he could not buy because the citizens had no money and therefore his own business fell.
“Customers want everything to go up, but not to go on the market. We also do not give a raise. Costs are constantly increasing. This is reflected in the market. The markets are still affordable compared to the markets. It is claimed that after the New Year, prices will increase even more and everything will increase.
