The monetary limit of consumer committees is increased by 122.93 percent

In the Official Gazette, the communiqué from the Ministry of Commerce was published on the increase of the monetary limits provided for in the regulation of consumer arbitration commissions by 122.93 percent in proportion to the revaluation rate.

With the Communiqué, in consumer arbitration commissions; Monetary limits determined separately for provinces with and without metropolitan cities were eliminated and a single amount was set.

Accordingly, in 2023, consumer disputes with a value of less than 66 thousand TL will be handled by provincial or district consumer arbitration committees.

The jurisdiction of consumer arbitration commissions and the division of labor shall be determined by the Ministry of Commerce. Requests can be filed with the consumer arbitration committee where the consumer is located or where the consumer transaction takes place.

INCLUDING ADMINISTRATIVE FINES

The provincial consumer arbitration commissions will be authorized within the provincial limits, and the district consumer arbitration commissions will be authorized within the district limits.

In districts where a consumer arbitration committee is not established, the consumer arbitration committee determined by the Ministry of Commerce for that district shall be deemed authorized.

The same newspaper also published a statement about the increase in administrative fines according to the revaluation rate, which is regulated by the consumer protection law to be implemented in 2023. (REUTERS)
