They announce the date of the 3rd meeting on the minimum wage
The third meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission will be held at the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare on Tuesday, December 20.
According to the information received from Ministry sources, the time of the third meeting in the field of studies to determine the minimum wage to apply in the new year has been set at 2:00 p.m.
The commission, which met for the first time on December 7, held its second meeting on December 14.
After the second closed-door meeting of the Minimum Wage Detection Commission at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, which lasted two and a half hours, TÜRK-İŞ General Secretary Pevrul Kavlak and TİSK General Secretary Akansel Koç, made statements to the press.
THE NUMBERS WERE NOT SPOKEN
TÜRK-İŞ General Secretary Pevrul Kavlak made a short statement after the second meeting: “There was no talk of a number. I don’t know if the next meeting will be the last, but now they will start talking about numbers little by little, ”he said.
TİSK General Secretary Koç said: “As in previous years, minimum wage support for employers is also on the table this year. We reiterate our request in this regard,” he said.
WORKER WANTS ‘UPPER CLASS + TAX CORRECTION’
The negotiations of the minimum wage determination commission began on December 7, with the worker’s request for an “increase plus tax bracket” and the employer’s proposal for “inflation plus social participation.”
On behalf of the worker in the commission, Türk-İş conducts the negotiations of this year’s minimum wage along with the increase of the tax bracket, as well as the improvement of the tax bracket.
Türk-İş and TİSK had previously sent a joint letter to the government on this issue, reporting that the income tax bracket, which was 20 times the minimum wage 20 years ago, had been reduced to 5 times, leading to a decrease in wages in the middle of the year.
Since the minimum wage is already tax-exempt, this lawsuit will prevent the loss of income for those who earn more than the minimum wage.
The president of Türk-İş, Ergün Atalay, also announced that they would start negotiating the minimum wage from 7,785 lira, which is the figure for the hunger limit for November.
As reactions grow over the fact that the negotiation will start at the lowest level, Atalay said, “Some non-benevolent people are judging us because ‘Türk-İş demanded 7,785 lira.’ We do not have a minimum wage proposal. We are talking about the limit of hunger, ”he said.
LABOR MINISTRY ANNOUNCED EXPECTATION
At the first meeting, the results of the investigation initiated in the field of Works of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security to Determine the Minimum Wage in force in 2023 were also announced.
In the statement, it was indicated that the common expectation of the public, made up of citizens of various professions who are neither workers nor employers, for the minimum wage for 2023 was 7,845 lira.
WHAT DO OTHER UNIONS WANT?
On the other hand, various demands continue to emerge about how much the minimum wage should be increased.
While CHP’s minimum wage proposal for 2023 was TL 10,128, DİSK’s demand stood out at TL 13,200 net.
Hak-İş Chairman Mahmut Arslan, on the other hand, emphasized that employees could not withstand high inflation and high cost of living, saying: “It is clear that a healthy minimum wage will not arise in the structure of this commission.” .
