SPECIAL SUPPORT FOR YOUNG FARMERS

Underlining that special supports will be provided to young farmers, it was stated in the statement that a total of 8.5 billion euros of public spending will be provided for the use of young farmers in its first year of operation. The new agricultural policy that will enter into force in 2023; It includes strengthening biodiversity and guiding farmers towards practices that are respectful of the climate and the environment.

Member states will allocate at least 35 percent of the rural development budget and at least 25 percent of direct payments to environment and climate friendly measures. At least 10 percent of direct payments will be used to support small and medium producers.

A crisis fund of 450 million euros will be created to be used in emergencies such as price or market imbalances. About a third of the total EU budget is devoted to agricultural policy and support in this area. (AA)
