Economic data will be discussed in minimum wage negotiations

The Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which held its first meeting on December 7, sponsored by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, will hold its second meeting on December 14.

In this meeting, which is important to determine the negotiation framework, basic economic data will be discussed.

At the meeting, where representatives of the Treasury, Finance and Trade ministries and the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) will share economic data and reports with the commission, the parties are expected to deliver the first figures.

REQUEST FOR REGULATION OF INCOME TAX SCHEDULE

On the other hand, it became known that TÜRK-İŞ, representing the workers’ section in the Commission, will raise at the meeting the issues of regulating the income tax rate in favor of employees and eliminating obstacles to the organization union.

At the first meeting, closed to the press under the chairmanship of Director General of Labor Sadettin Akyıl, the employers’ committee was chaired by Akansel Koç, General Secretary of the Turkish Employers’ Union Confederation (TİSK), and the workers’ committee The committee It was chaired by Pevrul Kavlak, Secretary General of TÜRK-İŞ.

At the meeting, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security shared with the parties the minimum wage survey it had commissioned, and it was stated that the common expectation of those who occupy various occupations, who are not workers or employers in the survey, for the salary minimum salary in 2023 is 7 thousand 845 liras.

HOW IS THE MINIMUM WAGE DETERMINED?

The Minimum Wage Determination Commission, consisting of 15 people, each of whom is five representatives of the employee, the employer and the government, determines the minimum wage. The Commission meets four times in December, based on custom, as part of the work to determine the new minimum wage.

The commission, chaired by one of the members determined by the Ministry, meets with the participation of at least 10 members and decides by majority vote. In case of equality of votes, it is accepted that the party with the president obtains the majority.

MINIMUM NET WAGE 5 THOUSAND 500 LIRA

The minimum wage is 6,471 liras gross per month for a worker, and 5,500 liras net 35 cents when taxes and deductions are deducted.

The total cost of the minimum wage for the employer is 7,603 liras and 43 cents per worker. Of this, 6,471 lira is the gross minimum wage, 1,003 lira 1 cent for the social security premium, 129 lira 42 cents for the employer’s unemployment insurance fund. (AA)
