Breaking age limit statement from Minister Bilgin on EYT

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met yesterday in Beştepe with Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labor and Social Security, and Nureddin Nebati, Minister of Finance.

While the age limit of 48 for women and 50 for men was on the EYT agenda, Minister Bilgin said in today’s statement that he would clarify the issue in budget negotiations.

On this uncertainty, which reached the agenda, Minister Bilgin made statements during the budget discussions in Parliament. Bilgin used the following statements:

UNIONS HIGHLIGHT

* First of all, I would like to tell Mr. Hüseyin Örs to get well soon.

* It is very important to make all kinds of criticism here. We have to make sure that the speeches that are made here are free.

*Our priority is labor relations. Employer-employer relations are very important in labor relations. The state is also obliged to take the necessary measures here.

* Unions are very important in labor relations. Capital itself is powerful. It is the task of our Ministry of Labor to organize the workers and equalize them with the bosses.

* In Turkey, public unionization is high, but worker unionization is low. The main reason here is the attitude towards unionization in small and medium-sized companies. It is the duty of all politicians to fight against it.

“WE ARE IN A NEW REGULATION”

*I want to underline that; Even today, there are attitudes toward workers who organize in unionized workplaces, and there are attitudes that amount to firing. I do not look at the employer here at all and review it. Let no one doubt it.

*Union regulations need to be expanded. We have a solution to fix this.

*In the past period, we have a regulation that we need to protect against inflation, especially in collective agreements, and we use it. In many ways, we support these contracts at the direction of the employees.

*We promised a fix on the 3600 earlier and we did. Previously these 4 occupational groups were covered, we have expanded this further. We are now expanding this further.

MINIMUM WAGE EXPLANATION

* Another important issue we focus on is the minimum wage. Last year we made a major adjustment. Today, we are still negotiating on the minimum wage. We did some research on the minimum wage. According to that research, the average public expectation was very high. Employers turned out to be around 7,000.
