DİSK-AR: Low-income food inflation has exceeded 150 percent
The Research Center of the Confederation of Revolutionary Unions of Workers (DİSK-AR) announced the food inflation to which low-income citizens are exposed.
Thus, while food inflation was 102.6 percent on average in November, food inflation for retirees was 130.7 percent.
While food inflation for the bottom 20 percent income group was 11.4 percent, food inflation for the bottom 20 percent income group was 132.1 percent, and inflation of food from the bottom 20 percent income group was 151.4 percent.
While food inflation for the fourth 20 percent income group was 101.6 percent, food inflation for the highest income group was 75.4 percent.
In the statement made by DİSK-AR, “Thus, while the poorest income group felt food inflation of 151.4 percent, the highest income group felt food inflation of 75.4 percent. This situation reveals that inflation is felt significantly differently across income groups.

‘IN 20 YEARS INFLATION INCREASED 55 POINTS’
“The official inflation rate of 84.4 percent in November 2022 means a new record for the AKP period. The AKP, which assumed an inflation rate of 29.7 percent in December 2002, raised inflation by 55 points in 20 years.
Noting that the gap between food inflation and headline inflation has begun to widen in recent years, the following information was included in the statement:
“The CPI, which was at 212 in November 2012, went to 1,115 in November 2022, while the food price index, which was at 217 in November 2012, went to 1,527 in November 2022. In November from 2022, the difference between the two indices increased to 412 points”.
