Now you buy less electricity and gas with the minimum wage
CHP Vice President Ahmet Akın pointed out that in budget negotiations, government spokesmen tried to mislead citizens by creating the perception that “the purchasing power of the minimum wage has not decreased” with convincing calculations.
Akın said: “The purchasing power of the minimum wage on energy bills, which is supposedly supported by the government, has greatly decreased in one year. With the minimum wage today, 938 kilowatt hours less of electrical energy and 516 cubic meters less of natural gas are purchased compared to last year”.
‘THERE IS A CRISIS IN THE CITIZEN’S COMBI, BILLS’
In his written statement, Akın pointed out that government spokesmen tried to mislead citizens with convincing calculations in the 2023 budget negotiations in the General Assembly of Turkey’s Grand National Assembly.
Influx; Recalling that AK Party deputy in Istanbul Nurettin Canikli calculated that he bought more red meat with the minimum wage in the budget negotiations and said: “There is not much increase, but it has not decreased”; he stated:
“Despite saying they are providing so-called extraordinary support, the purchasing power of minimum wage on energy bills has melted at a record rate in one year. The citizens have become unable to turn on the combi boiler when it is cold. The government says there is still a crisis in Germany. The crisis is in the boiler of the citizens, in their energy bill”.
‘LOW PURCHASING POWER IN ELECTRICITY AND NATURAL GAS’
Pointing out that if the minimum wage made by government spokesmen and red meat calculations are made on energy bills, the truth will come out, Akın said:
“With the minimum wage of 2,853 liras in December last year, 3,134 kilowatt-hours of electricity could be purchased in the period in question. The electricity purchased with the minimum wage, which today is 5,500 liras, decreased to 2,196 kilowatt-hours. The purchasing power of the minimum wage in electricity has decreased by 938 kilowatt-hours in one year.
Likewise, while in December of last year 1,478 cubic meters of natural gas were purchased with a minimum wage, today 962 cubic meters of natural gas can be purchased with a minimum wage. The purchasing power of the minimum wage in natural gas decreased 516 cubic meters in one year. In other words, if we use the expression of the government spokesmen; ‘No increase, very low’
‘At least TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT THE LATEST BUDGET’
Akın pointed out that the government has caused deep energy poverty in Turkey, especially in recent years; he stated:
“Due to misguided government policies, our nation’s purchasing power has declined and heating, which is a basic necessity, has now become a luxury.
Forced calculations made by AKP spokesmen in budget negotiations; It clearly shows the weakness of the government. We invite the government to at least explain the facts in this last budget that they made. Do not try to deceive our nation any more with forced calculations and made-up figures.”
