Giant Raise for New Year’s Turkey

100 percent increase for Christmas turkey

Just a few days before the New Year, the increase in turkey prices came to the fore.

Muzaffer Çetin, a turkey farmer in Tekirdağ’s Hayrabolu district, said the price of turkey increased twice, saying, “Last year, we used to lose 50 lira per kilo, this year it became 100 lira. Turkey has an average of 6-7 kilos,” he said.

‘DEMAND IS HIGH’

Stating that there is a high demand for turkey this year compared to previous years, Çetin said: “Our sales are very good, there is a lot of demand. I had 5,000 bucks, sold them for 4,000. I can tell they’ll all be sold by the end of the year. We did not expect such a high demand so soon, ”he said.

“We are glad that the high demand came early,” said Çetin, “We cut up turkeys and sell them by the kilo. Last year we lost 50 lira per kilo, this year it was 100 lira. A turkey weighs an average of 6-7 kilos,” he said. .

Stating that you can understand a good turkey by looking under its wings, Çetin said: “To understand a good turkey, just look under its wings. If it’s yellow, that turkey is delicious. If the underside of the wings is not yellow, that turkey will not taste good. If there is no jaundice under its wings, it has not made oil. The fatter it is, the tastier it is, the more nutritious it is. The meat of the turkey will be yellow, without feathers. There will be no piles of feathers. (DHA)
