Wages don’t rise as much as inflation

In Turkey, 49 percent of citizens think that the new year increase will be even below the official inflation rate.
THE TURKS WITH THE MOST HOPE
This expectation is also reflected in the hopes for the new year. According to the research, Turks are the most hopeless by 2023. While the rate of those who think that the standard of living will drop further in 2023 among the 36 countries covered by the research, this rate is the highest in Turkey. One in two people (52 percent) in Turkey think that the standard of living will drop further in the new year. 27 percent of the participants expect the standard of living to remain the same. Only 19 percent expect some increase in the standard of living in 2023 in Turkey.
Only 11 percent believe that inflation will come down
The survey also asked citizens of 36 countries if they thought inflation would decrease in their country in 2023. A 46 percent section in Turkey think it will increase, let alone decrease. Instead, 28 percent think there will be some increase. He stated that inflation of 12 percent will remain the same in 2023. Those who think inflation will decline is only 13 percent. The survey also draws attention to the high number of people expecting an increase in unemployment in Turkey in 2023. 73 percent of citizens expect an increase in unemployment next year. Among them, 46 percent said that “unemployment will rise too high.”
