Eyes on the inflation figures that will be released tomorrow due to the rise in the minimum wage

TÜRK-İŞ, representing the working class in the Commission for the Determination of the Minimum Wage, will present the economic indicators, including the inflation figure for November, which will be announced tomorrow, to the commission before the negotiations to determine the wage figure minimum that will be valid in the New Year.

The process of determining the new minimum wage, which directly affects more than 7 million employees and indirectly affects all citizens, will begin with the first meeting on December 7.

At the meeting to be organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the employers’ side will be represented by the Turkish Confederation of Employers’ Associations (TİSK), and the workers’ side will be represented by Türk-İş, as it is the confederation with the largest number of affiliates.

REQUESTS AND OFFERS WILL BE ATTENDED

While the demands and offers of the negotiating parties were eagerly awaited, TÜRK-İŞ, representing the workers’ section in the commission, focused on November inflation data to be announced tomorrow.

The workers’ delegation is expected to present their demands regarding the burden of income tax on wages, as well as figures and inflation data in the TÜRK-İŞ Poverty and Hunger Line Survey.

THE MEETINGS WILL BE HELD IN THE MINISTRY

Following the retirement of Nurcan Önder, who chaired the Minimum Wage Determination Commission as General Manager of Labor in previous years, the new General Manager Sadettin Akyıl will chair the commission this year.

Again this year, Pevrul Kavlak, General Secretary of the Confederation and President of the Turkish Metal Union, will be the chairman of the workers’ committee on behalf of TÜRK-İŞ in the commission.

There will also be differences in meeting locations this year. The second and third meetings, which were hosted by delegations of workers and employers in previous years, will be held this year at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

The new minimum wage figure is expected to be decided before the end of this year, just like last year.

MINIMUM WAGE HUNGER LINE

The heads of the workers’ and employers’ sections met at the ministry on December 1, at the invitation of the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Bilgin, and determined the timetable for the minimum wage negotiations. Consequently, it was decided to hold the first meeting of the commission on December 7 and the second meeting on December 14.

After this meeting, Özgür Burak Akkol, Chairman of the TİSK Board of Directors, stated that they wanted to determine the new minimum figure with the joint agreement of the employer, the government and the employer, and said: We will also take responsibility for a balanced and stable,” he said.

On the other hand, TÜRK-İŞ President Ergün Atalay pointed out that the hunger limit for a family of 4 is 7,785 lira in the TÜRK-İŞ Hunger and Poverty Line Survey, on a TV show. which he attended, and that this figure with red You have to cross the lines, he had said.

HOW IS IT DETERMINED?

The Minimum Wage Determination Commission, consisting of 15 people, each of whom is five representatives of the employee, the employer and the government, determines the minimum wage. The Commission meets four times in December, based on custom, as part of the work to determine the new minimum wage.

The commission, chaired by one of the members determined by the Ministry, meets with the participation of at least 10 members and decides by majority vote. In case of equality of votes, it is accepted that the party with the president obtains the majority.

The minimum wage is 6,471 liras gross per month for a worker, and 5,500 liras net 35 cents when taxes and deductions are deducted. The total cost of the minimum wage for the employer is 7,603 liras and 43 cents per worker. Of this, 6,471 lira is the gross minimum wage, 1,003 lira 1 cent for the social security premium, 129 lira 42 cents for the employer’s unemployment insurance fund. (AA)
