With the start of the fishing season, the boats sailing in Trabzon return to the port with the local anchovy recently caught in their nets. The local anchovy, which decorates the fishing grounds in the Moloz area of ​​the Ortahisar district, pleases the citizens with its price.

A kilogram of local anchovy on the counters finds buyers for 25-35 lira. In addition, trout is sold in pieces of 50, bonito and salmon are offered to the consumer for 60, perch for 140, sea bream for 120, haddock for 100, horse mackerel, blueberry and sargan for 65 and shad for 40 lira.

‘THE SEASON WILL HAPPEN’

Fisherman Ali Ofluoğlu said that the local anchovy has just started to appear. Stating that anchovies are getting fatter these days, Ofuoğlu said, “People have always been waiting for the local anchovy in Trabzon. Currently, the Trabzon anchovy has taken its place on the counters and we are selling it for 25 lira.”

Noting that they expect the anchovies to become plentiful, Ofuoğlu said, “I hope there will be more, the season will be plentiful. We are waiting. We always try to provide our customers with good, fresh fish,” he said.

Mehmet Can Örseloğlu also stated that the fishing season started well, noting that the local anchovy, which the citizens missed and expected, began to decorate the stalls. Örseloğlu added that they expect the anchovy to be abundant in the coming days. (AA)
