Request for 110 billion dollars for investments in wind and solar energy
The Chairman of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA), Mustafa Yılmaz, stated that a record number of applications have been made to establish a wind and solar energy storage plant, saying, “Currently, there is an investment demand of 110 billion dollars. Given current capacity, we expect $40-45 billion of this amount to reflect on the field.”
Following the electricity storage regulation drawn up by EMRA and published in the Official Gazette on November 19, Yılmaz evaluated the latest developments in terms of applications made to establish a wind and solar energy storage plant.
334 SUN WITH STORAGE, 575 WIND WITH STORAGE
Yılmaz indicated that the requests made to the EMRA so far correspond to 67 thousand 349 megawatts in terms of installed power.
Noting that 909 applications have already been made, Yılmaz stated that 334 applications with an installed capacity of 19,881 megawatts are for electricity generation with solar energy storage, and 575 applications with an installed capacity of 47,468 megawatts are applications for electricity generation with wind energy storage. installations.
The regulation on electricity storage wind and solar power plants includes changes such as evaluating such power plants regardless of the capacity of intermittent resources, creating a connection opinion independent of any capacity allocation competition and not requiring the measurement obligation for wind power plants.
The regulation also allows investors who have committed to establish an electricity storage facility to apply for a prior license to establish a wind and solar energy project, as well as the installed capacity of the storage facility they have committed. (AA)
