Starting December 29, the import of hybrid vehicles that do not originate in the European Union (EU) and free trade treaty countries (FTA) will be carried out with a permit issued by the Ministry of Industry and Technology or the institution or organization authorized by him.

According to the statement on the import of some electric vehicles published in today’s edition of the Official Gazette, a permit issued by the Ministry of Industry and Technology or the institution or body authorized by it will be required to import hybrid vehicles through customs. To obtain exemption from the permit, goods must come with an A.TR Circulation Certificate or proof of origin within the scope of the relevant free trade agreement.

CERTAIN CONDITIONS WILL BE MET FOR THE PERMIT CERTIFICATE

In this context, to issue a permit; It will be necessary for the Turkish Institute of Standardization (TSE) to certify that the importer itself has established at least 20 authorized service stations in 7 geographical regions for the assembly, maintenance and after-sales repair of the vehicles to be imported.

In addition, those who will be responsible for the purchase, sale, maintenance and repair of electric vehicles must have a qualification certificate issued by the TSE or the Professional Qualifications Authority for the purchase, sale, maintenance and repair of electric vehicles, and have at least 40 people established in Turkey for each brand. The conditions of providing service through a call center, having an authorized representative of the manufacturer resident in the country and providing a written commitment indicating that the procedures to be carried out with respect to monitoring, control and compliance must be met. battery system inspection requirements accepted by the importer.
