Mercedes Benz sales fell in the third quarter

German carmaker Mercedes-Benz’s vehicle sales decreased by 4 percent in the third quarter of the year due to the decline in the US and Chinese markets.

According to the Mercedes-Benz statement, the German manufacturer’s vehicle deliveries decreased by 4 percent to 510,600 units in the July-September period of the year compared to the same period of the previous year.

During the period in question, vehicle deliveries in China, the company’s largest market, decreased 12 percent to 196 thousand, and sales to the US decreased 15 percent to 64 thousand.

Deliveries in Germany increased 11 percent to 53,800 units, and sales in Europe increased 12 percent to 164,200 units.

Model changes and parts supply problems were claimed to have influenced the decline in the US and Chinese markets.

Electric vehicles continued to be the driver of sales in the third quarter. During this period, sales of electric cars increased by 66 percent and reached 61,600 units.

Sales in the January-September period of the year increased 2 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching approximately 1 million 529 thousand 800 units. (AA)
