Those who do not respect the rules in the sale of used cars will be fined. The following statements were used in the statement made by the Ministry of Commerce on the subject;

“ADDITIONAL MEASURES WILL BE TAKEN”

*We continue to work meticulously to prevent unfair storage and practices and the corresponding exorbitant price increases in the automotive sector that have unbalanced supply and demand in recent years, and to ensure efficiency in the purchase and sale of motor vehicles by re-establishing a competitive, fair and stable market structure in the sector.

*In the field of the fight against hoarding actions and exorbitant pricing practices in the automotive sector, our Ministry has decided to take additional measures in order to eliminate practices that cause harm to consumers.

ENTRY INTO FORCE ON JULY 15

*In this context, the Second-Hand Motor Vehicle Trade Regulations were modified, and until January 1, 2024, a restriction was imposed on the sale of second-hand motor vehicles at a price higher than the current sale price. recommended by the manufacturer or distributor.

*This regulation will enter into force on 7.15.2023 and covers both individual and commercial advertisements of all natural and legal persons.

PENALTY WILL BE APPLIED

*Within the scope of this restriction, all natural and legal persons will be warned by “advertising platforms” about advertisements that may violate the regulation at the publication stage. Despite this warning, advertisements posted in violation of the said restriction and information about the advertiser will be sent to our Ministry of Commerce by the advertising platform.

*Our Ministry will accept any advertisement contrary to this regulation as second-hand land vehicle trade and an administrative fine of up to 300,000 TL per advertisement may be imposed on those who place these advertisements.

“6 MONTHS 6000 KILOMETER…”

*Another problem is the restriction on sales that violate the “marketing and sales restriction of 6 months to 6 thousand kilometers”, which our Ministry decided to extend for 6 months (until 1.1.2024). Pursuant to this regulation, sales in violation of the “6 months-6 thousand kilometers regulation” of all individuals and legal entities that sell 3 or more unauthorized used motor vehicles in a calendar year, as well as those that sell Licensed to sell second-hand motor vehicles.

*In light of the studies carried out by our Ministry of Commerce, the sales records of used land motor vehicles of individuals and legal entities are under scrutiny. In 2023, private sellers and companies that sell more than 3 second-hand motor vehicles without an authorization certificate have been identified and their defenses are requested from these sellers. Administrative fines may be imposed on these people in the coming days, taking into account their defenses by our Ministry.

*As the Ministry of Commerce, our inspections and sanctions continue with full determination throughout the country to prevent acts that may cause unfair treatment to our consumers, keeping a close eye on unfair profit attempts and unfair trade practices, along with the desired imbalance between supply and demand. to create in the sector.
