The expectation of the ‘pre-pandemic period’ in vehicle sales

New decisions were announced by the Ministry of Commerce regarding the exorbitant increase in prices, storage and unfair commercial practices in the automotive sector.

In this sense, it was emphasized that while the regulation of 6 months and 6 thousand kilometers for new vehicles is extended, measures will be taken so that the prices of used vehicle advertisements that appear on the internet are higher than those of the new vehicles.

The new regulations also became the hope of sellers.

Istanbul Motor Vehicle Dealers Association (IMAS) President Hayrettin Ertemel said: “The biggest problem for the past 2 years is that the car has been used as an investment tool, not as a necessity item. . The important issue here is the ease of writing the vehicle in the desired numbers on the Internet in all speculative ways. With this new application presented by our Ministry, it will not be possible to enter used car price ads in new vehicles.

SECOND-HAND PRICE CANNOT BE ENTERED IN ZERO VEHICLE

Ertemel said: “What will cause this? In this case, we wait and hope that the people we call traders will withdraw from our market. The important thing is to follow up well. We hope that the auto industry will return to pre-pandemic times if our ministry takes a serious look at these issues. These decisions will ease the market,” he said.

‘RISE IN EXCHANGE TRIGGERS NEW HIGHER’

Ertemel said: “There is no supply shortage at the moment. The supply problem seems to have been resolved in the automotive industry. “There is excess demand here,” he said.

“Car prices are also very proportional to foreign currency. Ertemel, who said that almost 70 percent of makes and models are imported into Turkey, continued as follows:

“Rising currency prices may trigger the uptrend in the auto industry. We hope that if there is a normalization in demand, it will stabilize on its own and that these speculatively increased prices will now return to their normal value. In our opinion, there is no shortage of new vehicles anymore. New vehicles are available at dealerships, and dealerships need to take a stand to sell these vehicles to the end consumer in this regard.”

‘THEY ALSO GIVE TAX’

Mehmet Raci Roof, who has been working as a gallery owner for 15 years, said: “It is not possible for a second-hand vehicle to be more expensive than a new one, because citizens get zero expenses. Not second hand. Those who put those ads are up the market, the average,” he said.

Roof continued:

“This is illogical when you think about it. Zero should be preferred, but because there is no zero, dealers cause difficulties and want a difference, people may want to pay the difference when they want to own a car right away. It is not possible for galleries to do such a thing. When the license plate is installed, the price of the vehicle should decrease.

Pre-owned means a used vehicle with its registration attached. They buy for investment purposes and wait for prices to go up because they don’t supply them to the market and they get what they want. Let them pay taxes, we rent the store”. (DHA)
