In the online used car market, sales were down in April, prices were up

Sales in the online second-hand passenger and light commercial vehicle market in Turkey decreased by around 10 percent in April compared to the same period a year earlier, and amounted to 172,450 units.

According to data compiled from Indicata’s online second-hand market report, 327,273 corporate advertisements were published on online channels last month.

Although the number of ads increased 1 percent from April last year, 53 percent of the vehicles in the ad were sold, or 172,450 units. Sales fell 10 percent compared to April of last year. The share of automobiles in sales was 82 percent and the share of light commercial vehicles was determined to be 18 percent.

In January-April 2023, there was a 12 percent increase in the number of advertisements and a 20 percent increase in the number of sales compared to the same period of the previous year. In the first 4 months, 651,539 units were sold.

According to analysis conducted by examining the price changes of 118,815 listings in the 2010-2022 model years of 2,023 variants of 253 models from the top 32 best-selling brands in the online pre-owned market, retail prices in the second The online passenger and light commercial vehicle market increased 7.7 percent compared to the previous month.

SALES OF SECOND-HAND ELECTRIC CARS INCREASE

When assessing Turkey’s pre-owned online passenger and light commercial market by engine type, diesel cars had the highest share in April 2023, with sales of 103,259 units.

Diesel cars were followed by gasoline cars with 62,339 sales and auto gas cars with 2,247 units.

Hybrid car sales were 3,886 and second-hand electric car sales were 719. In April 2022, 583 used electric cars were sold.

In addition, 40 percent of passenger cars sold last month were C-segment vehicles. Compared to the same period last year, the share of SUV segment vehicle sales in total passenger vehicles increased by 25 percent. (AA)
