Sales and prices have increased in the online second-hand car market

Sales in the online second-hand passenger and light commercial vehicle market in Turkey increased by 28 percent compared to the same month of 2022 last month, reaching 189,643 units.

According to data collected from Indicata’s Online Pre-Owned Market Report, as of March 2023, 360,458 individual vehicle advertisements were posted on the Turkish online pre-owned passenger and light commercial vehicle market. Compared to March of last year, the number of ads increased by 7 percent.

53 percent of the advertised vehicles were sold. Thus, in March 2023, 189,643 units were sold, with an increase of 28 percent compared to March of the previous year.

The share of automobiles in sales was determined at 81 percent and the share of light commercial vehicles at 19 percent.

While sales were up 50 percent in March compared to February, in January-March 2023 total sales were up 36 percent compared to the same period a year earlier.

PRICES RISE 4.3 PERCENT

Based on analysis conducted by examining price changes for 123,663 listings in model years 2010-2022 of 2,023 variants of 253 models from the top 32 best-selling brands in the online pre-owned marketplace, retail prices The online pre-owned passenger and light commercial vehicle market increased by one in March, noting that it increased 4.3 percent compared to the previous month.

When evaluating Turkey’s pre-owned online passenger and light commercial market by engine type, diesel cars had the highest share in March 2023 with sales of 118,175 units.

Diesel cars were followed by gasoline cars with 63,288 sales and auto gas cars with 4,102 units.

Hybrid car sales were 3,486, while second-hand electric car sales were 592. In March last year, 379 used electric cars were sold.

In addition, 41 percent of the passenger cars sold last month were C-segment vehicles. Compared to the same period of the previous year, it was determined that the share of B-SUV segment vehicle sales in total sales vehicles passengers increased by 4 percent and the share of the D-SUV segment increased by 9 percent.
