Bribery raid on Mercedes
A ‘bribery and corruption’ raid was carried out on Mercedes, the world’s leading automaker.
The Stuttgart Public Prosecutor’s Office searched the sales departments of the Mercedes headquarters and the homes of two employees, arguing that two Mercedes employees were bribed “to obtain bribes in the purchase of a large number of vehicles by some companies”.
MERCEDES HAS COMPLAINED
“We are investigating two people for bribery and corruption, especially in purchases made for commercial purposes,” said Attorney General Aniello Ambrosio, who led the investigation. It is claimed that the size of bribery and corruption exceeds millions of euros. In the Mercedes statement it was highlighted that the complaint about the issue came from themselves.
TEAM OF EXPERTS ESTABLISHED BY THE POLICE
He specified that certain companies that bought a large number of vehicles took the lead by bribing two employees, while various documents and computers were seized in the sales unit in order to get to the pertinent information. It was announced that the search was also carried out in the research and development department of the Sindelfingen center.
On the other hand, it was claimed that corruption has been going on for years and that the top officials who did this have been hiding it very well for years. To shed light on the incident, the ‘Capture of White Collar Criminals’ unit was formed from the German Public Security Office.
