New car sales increase in the EU in January
The European Association of Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA) has announced the new vehicle registration data for the EU countries for the month of January.
Consequently, new car sales in EU countries increased by 11.3 percent last month compared to the same period in 2022 and reached 760 thousand 41.
37.9 percent of new cars sold are gasoline, 26 percent hybrid, 15.9 percent diesel, 9.5 percent fully electric, 7.1 percent plug-in hybrid and 3. 6 percent formed from other fuels.

While car sales between EU countries rose 51.4 percent in Spain, 19 percent in Italy and 8.8 percent in France in January compared to the same period last year, they declined 2.6 percent in Germany.
Among the 27 EU member states, Germany had the most new cars on the road in January. During this period, 179,247 new cars were registered in Germany, 128,437 in Italy, 111,939 in France and 64,147 in Spain.
According to manufacturers, VW Group sold the most new cars in the EU in January with 197,490.
Stellantis Group trailed VW Group in new vehicle sales in the EU. The Stellantis Group, which includes brands such as Peugeot, Fiat, Citroen and Opel, sold a total of 141,160 cars.
The Renault Group ranked third with 88,636 new cars, while the Hyundai Group ranked fourth with 68,344 new cars. (AA)
