The market share of electric cars in the European Union has reached 12 percent
The European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) has published new data on car sales in EU countries by fuel types in 2022.
Consequently, 36.4% of cars sold in EU countries last year were petrol, 22.6% hybrid, 16.4% diesel, 12.1% fully electric (BEV), 9.4% plug-in hybrids (PHEV), 2.8% other fuels and 0.2% natural gas.
Thus, in said period, the share of electric cars and various hybrids in the total market of EU countries reached 44.1 percent.
In 2022, electric car sales increased 28 percent compared to the previous year to 1,123,778, hybrid sales increased 8.6 percent to 2,89,653, plug-in hybrid car sales Sales of other alternative fuel cars increased 8.6 percent, rose 13.7 to 257,458, rose 1.2 percent to 874,182.
Gasoline car sales decreased 12.8 percent to 3,371,153, diesel sales decreased 19.7 percent to 1,522,686, natural gas car sales decreased 57.6 percent to 18,298. (AA)
