Passenger car exports contracted 2.5 percent in 2022

According to the data compilation of the Assembly of Exporters of Turkey and the Association of Exporters of the Automotive Industry of Uludağ, the automotive industry, which closed 2021 with 29 thousand 334 million 554 thousand dollars of exports, made an export of 30 thousand 995 million 808 thousand dollars with an increase of 5.7 percent in 2022.

Exports of “passenger cars,” one of the most important by-product groups of the auto industry, contracted 2.5 percent in 2022 compared with the previous year. Exports of passenger cars, which were 9 thousand 504 million 34 thousand dollars in 2021, were registered at 9 thousand 264 million 807 thousand dollars in 2022.
While passenger cars account for 29.9 percent of the auto sector’s total exports in 2022, vehicles were sold to 110 countries, free zones and autonomous regions last year.

EXPORTS TO FRANCE AND SPAIN DECREASE

The sector exported the largest number of passenger cars to France last year. Export sales to this country in 2022 decreased 12.6% compared to 2021, going from 1 billion 737 million 240 thousand dollars to 1 billion 517 million 945 thousand dollars.

An increase of 31.71 percent was achieved in foreign sales to the United Kingdom, which is the second country with the most exports. In 2021, $807,672,000 worth of passenger cars were sold to the United Kingdom, and $1,63,753,000 were sold last year.

Exports of passenger cars to Italy, which ranks third, increased by 1.84 percent, going from $882,558,000 to $898,803,000.

In this period, exports of passenger cars to Spain, which ranked fourth, decreased by 2.6 percent to $818,708,000, while exports to Germany, which ranked fifth, decreased by 11.85 percent. one hundred to 744 million 540 thousand dollars.

NOTABLE INCREASE IN EXPORTS TO THE AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITIES

In the passenger car group, there have been notable increases in exports to some countries and autonomous communities.

While in 2021 12 million 306 thousand dollars of passenger cars were exported to Kazakhstan, last year 68 million 825 thousand dollars were sold with an increase of 459.28 percent.

Exports of passenger cars to Turkmenistan in 2021 amounted to 413 thousand dollars, in 2022 they increased by 2 thousand 696 percent to 11 million 551 thousand dollars.
