After Biden leaves, Democrats rally around Harris

Following US President Joe Biden’s abrupt withdrawal from the race for another term, more and more US Democrats are rallying around his deputy Kamala Harris. The 59-year-old is currently considered the most promising candidate to replace her in the November 5 election. She has publicly received support from Biden and many other party leaders, and her party is now set to nominate her candidacy. It is unclear whether the party will follow Biden’s suggestion and who Harris might recruit to her side as her deputy. The Democratic nominating convention will be held August 19-22 in Chicago.
