Volcanic eruption in Iceland: a crack in the ground 4 kilometers long

After a week-long series of earthquakes, a volcano erupted late Monday on the Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland. This was reported by the Icelandic Meteorological Office. The eruption began north of the town of Grindavik shortly after 10 pm (local time), the institute warned on its home page on Tuesday evening.
