The separatist parties in Spain boycotted the King

Following the early general elections held in Spain on July 23, the new legislative period began with the establishment of the left-wing minority coalition government, with Pedro Sánchez, leader of the Socialist Workers Party (PSOE), serving as prime minister and receiving a vote. of confidence from Parliament on 16 November.

While King Felipe VI gave a speech in the General Assembly of the Parliament on the occasion of the opening of the new legislative period, representatives of the Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC) and the Union for Catalonia (Junts), EH Bildu in the Basque Country and Los Parties of the Galicia Nationalist Bloc (BNG) boycotted the King of Spain and attended the session, but did not participate.

ERC, EH Bildu and BNG said: “We do not have a king. They made a joint declaration under the title “Democracy, freedom and the republic” and maintained that “the Spanish monarchy is incompatible with basic democratic values ​​and is undemocratic.”

On the other hand, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, leader of the main opposition right-wing Popular Party (PP), recalled that the four political parties protesting against the King provided external support to the current left-wing minority coalition government and stated: “We support the Prime Minister Minister and support for the institutions of the State, for coexistence, for democracy, I do not know another country in Europe that does not respect the constitutional monarchy. “It is very sad,” he reacted.
