UN: 10,000 civilians killed in Ukraine

Miroslav Jenca, Under-Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia and America of the UN Political Affairs Unit, briefed member countries at the session held at the UN Security Council.

“Russian invasion of Ukraine violates the United Nations Charter and international law.” In his statement, Jenca noted that the victims included hundreds of children.

Noting that the violence will not end soon, Jenca said: “Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, 10,000 civilians have been killed and 18,500 people have been injured.” He shared his knowledge.

“THE SITUATION IS VERY DIFFICULT FOR THE MILLIONS OF UKRAINIANS WHO WILL LIVE IN WINTER”

Jenca stressed that the situation is very difficult for millions of Ukrainians who, in the event of war, will experience winter for the second time and pointed out that the risk of the conflict spreading to the Black Sea remains very high.

Stating that the UN is also concerned about violations of international law in Russian-controlled Ukrainian territory, Jenca claimed that Russian authorities in the region held elections, appointed Russian judges and began implementing Russian laws.

Jenca: “Practices aimed at forcibly transforming identities and institutions are unacceptable.” “Amid global challenges and crises, the international community must not lose sight of Ukraine and put an end to the suffering of the Ukrainian people due to this war.” saying. (AA)
