Houthis hijack Israeli ship in Red Sea

The Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen were claimed to have seized the ship owned by an Israeli company in the Red Sea.

Israeli newspaper Walla reported that there were no Israeli citizens on the ship captured by the Houthis in Yemen. Speaking to the newspaper, an anonymous Israeli source noted that an Israeli company was among the ship’s partners.

It was reported in international media reports that there were 22 crew members on the ship named “Galaxy Leader”, which was captured by the Houthis in the Red Sea.

Separately, the Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen threatened to attack ships belonging to Israeli companies. Yahya Seri, the military spokesman for the Houthis, stated in his statement written on the X social media account that they will attack any ship flying the Israeli flag.

Seri called on all countries to remove their citizens working on ships owned or operated by Israeli companies and invited countries not to work with the ships in question.

Repeating that they would attack Israeli ships in reaction to attacks on the blockaded Gaza Strip, Seri accused Israel and the United States of committing “genocide” in the blockaded Gaza Strip.

Houthi leader Abdulmelik al-Houthi also threatened in his Nov. 14 television speech that they could attack Israeli ships in the Red Sea.

The Houthis in Yemen had announced that they had launched attacks against Israel with missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) many times since October 31. (AA)
