UN reacts to Israel’s attacks on UN schools

The UN spokesperson issued a written statement regarding the attacks carried out by Israel against two schools belonging to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

According to the statement, Guterres recalled that thousands of Palestinian civilians took refuge in UN facilities amid intense attacks and said: “I reaffirm that our facilities are inviolable.” he said.

“I am deeply shocked by the shooting of two UNRWA schools in Gaza in less than 24 hours,” Guterres said. “Dozens of people, including children and women, who took refuge in UN facilities were killed and injured.” he made the assessment of it.

“Every day, war causes an unacceptable number of civilian casualties, including women and children. “This has to stop now.” Guterres reiterated his call for a humanitarian ceasefire.

Guterres expressed his gratitude to the government of Qatar for its mediation efforts. (AA)
